Monigraf Ink Key Systems / CIP3

Description – Replace the existing GMI ink system with the state-of-the-art Monigraf radial ink key system. New hardened ink duct rolls furnished. Optionally add the ability to download CIP3 ink key presetting files via a network communication line from the plate imager.

Benefits

•  Greater ink control using Monigraf radial ink keys rather than flexible blades.

•  State-of-the art electronics.

•  Simple zeroing procedure.

•  Elimination of use of “floppy disks” to load jobs.

•  Operator friendly Monigraf touch-screen. Groups of keys can be moved quickly. Built-in diagnostics, trouble-shooting     and program changes via the Internet.

•  Color comes up faster on make-ready start-up resulting in less waste.

•  Ink key rebuild/trade-in program.

•  With CIP 3 jobs files can be downloaded easily to preset the keys once again reducing form change waste.

UV Dryer Conversion - more info

Description – Convert heatset press to UV system

 Benefits

•  Reduce utility costs (gas, chilled water)

•  Reduce maintenance costs (eliminate dryer, airturn, chill rolls). A UV dryer has very little maintenance costs.

•  In general a higher quality printed product especially on ground wood stocks.

•  Eliminate or greatly minimize moisture growth of signatures in books.

•  With the elimination of an airturn and hot air dryer web weave is reduced with an overall more stable web.

•  With the elimination of the hot air dryer and chill stand a UV press footprint is considerably shorter than the original     heatset press length.

Upgrading of Pilz, OP17, OP20 Displays

Description – Replace the older technology Pilz, OP17, and OP20 console displays with a Siemens operator panel.

 Benefits

•  The current Pilz and OP17's and OP20's are becoming obsolete.

•  The costs to repair the existing displays can be quite high. Even after spending for repairs the result is still an obsolete     display.

•  The new Siemens panel will allow monitoring more points on the press. This will save time troubleshooting press stops     and increase uptime.

•  The Siemens panel will be much more user friendly and provide additional information on the press running condition.

Spray Dampening Retrofit

Description – Replace existing continuous dampening systems with the Baldwin Maxima Spray Dampening system. The print quality using this spray dampening system is equal or better than continuous systems on existing presses.

 Benefits

•  Maintenance costs are lower. There are no drive components to repair or replace.

•  Make-readies and running wastes are lower because there are no roller settings to be made and maintained.

•  With a continuous system there is a likelihood of ink feedback into the fountain solution. With a spray system there is no     ink feedback.

•  With a typical spray dampening system on a Timsons press there are six (6) spray heads per bar. Each head can be     adjusted for the amount of water applied. With a continuous system only roller pressures and skewing adjust the amount     of water.

Upgrade Web Guides, Cut-off Controls, Web Break Detectors

Description – Replace existing legacy web control equipment such as web guides, cut-off controls, and web break detectors with current technology.

 Benefits

•  The current web guides may have excessive wear along with older controls which cause additional make-ready and     running waste.

•  New cut-off control electronics may also reduce make-ready and running waste.

•  Replacement parts for the older controls are getting harder to source and costs for these parts may be prohibitive.

Megtec Chill Stand Drive Upgrade

Description – Replace the old technology Fairchild differential draw and harmonic transmissions with new, start-of-the-art bolt-on harmonic drives for older Megtec Chill Stands.

Benefits

•  Reduce maintenance costs. The older Fairchild unit replacement parts are expensive. Rebuilding the drives is very time consuming.
•  The new harmonic drives will hold chill speeds more precisely. This allows better web tension control which in turn will reduce waste and web breaks.
